About

Mission Statement

The mission of the West Scarborough United Methodist Church is to praise and serve God, and to bring individuals into a relationship with God’s Son, Jesus Christ. We are committed to enhancing spiritual growth through worship, Christian education, Bible study, fellowship, and reaching out to others beyond our community. We welcome all into our house of worship.

Senior Pastor

My name is Gil Lee. My wife Hannah, our children, Grace and Daniel, and I moved to Scarborough from Contoocook, NH, and I began serving this congregation on July 4, 2021.

While this is my second assignment in New England,  I have also served as a missionary trainer in Singapore, pastored at churches in Severn, MD, Wilmore, KY and in Singapore, and been a missiology professor in Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. I have thought of myself as a mobile church, moving around the world sharing God’s dream from 1Timothy2:4 “For all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth”.

Covenant Statement

As members of West Scarborough United Methodist Church, we as the Body of Christ are called to love one another unconditionally as He first loved us. Therefore, we covenant together to work with each other in a spirit of respect and understanding. By entering this covenant, we will affirm and support each other as we all grow in our ministry together, seeking to fulfill the mission of our church.

We will endeavor to love each other as our Lord Jesus Christ asked us to do.

  • We will listen objectively to each other with a sincere desire to understand.
  • We will treat each other with courtesy regardless of our own opinions.
  • We will focus on where we share common ground rather than where we may differ.
